Learning doesn’t start at kindergarten, it starts at birth. That is why programs that provide early care and education services play such an important role in the growth and development of young children.
Early care and education is defined as ANY program providing care for children birth to age 6. Examples of these programs include center-based child care, family child care, Head Start, Early Head Start, private and public preschools, Montessori programs, and Pre-kindergarten services.
