The Success By 6 Initiative
is collaboration between the United
Way of Anchorage and Child Care Connection. Melinda Myers
is the Director. She works with the Success By 6 Governance
Board and Community
Partners to achieve the Success By 6 mission and goals.
The mission of Success By 6 is to spread the word about the
critical importance of the early years and encourage community
members, in their own way, to take action and invest in the
early care and education of young children. By educating our
community members to take action, invest and advocate in young
children, we are making a lasting contribution to the future
well-being of our community.
The goal of Success By 6 is to ensure all children develop
the social-emotional, cognitive, skills and physical capacities
they need to achieve well-being and be ready for learning
in the school environment by the time they are six years old.
To accomplish its goals, the Success By 6 Initiative follows
a set of Bold Moves. By
using the Bold Moves as a guide, Success By 6 can identify
services and programs that impact young children that need
support. Anchorage has chosen not to provide direct service,
but to encourage collaboration, sharing information, empowering
others, and raising awareness to focus existing and new resources
on the development of young children.
